Carol Ann Kennedy

Known for her quirky, unique style, Carol Ann Kennedy started writing before she could talk, etching stories and poems on the underside of her parents’ window ledges as a child. With African American and Irish ancestry, you might say, storytelling is in her blood.

Carol exhibits true mastery of the craft and is also an emerging Director, having been nominated as ‘Best First Time Female Director’ for her directing debut on Zumbido.

Ms. Kennedy has completed more than 20 feature screenplays and attributes her knack for comedy (primarily on the dark side) to her mentors, Garry Marshall and Fred Freeman. Her characters are unique, and they often find themselves in unusual situations and places. She attributes her inspiration to growing up in a strange old home where abnormal occurrences took place, and things often went bump in the night – it was a place where unearthly beings were regular visitors! Make of this what you will but it truly sparked her creativity and imagination at a very early age.

Ms. Kennedy’s deep exploration of the absurd side of everyday life through bizarre (offbeat?) protagonists placed in unusual circumstances, has caught the attention of several A-listers and she has been pegged as an emerging writer who is ‘someone to watch’.

Rebellious, fresh, and entertaining can, not only describe her writing, but also her personality. Ms. Kennedy’s stories are just as compelling and awe-inspiring as her own personal story. She continues to reap the benefits of more produced material and optioned scripts.
